Mike: “Do you know who this is singing?”
Matthew: “Nope”
Mike: “It's Bob Dylan”
Matthew: “Bod Dylan, Bob Dylan”
Matthew: “Did you know there's another Bob as well?”
Mike: “Who?”
Matthew: “Bob the Builder!”
Exercise is good! I know that, but sometimes you need to be reminded. The past two nights I've gone for short runs around the block, nice and easy, about 15 mins. And today I went to the gym, and had a good workout. And after each run, and especially after the gym today, I've felt that wonderful heavy-limbed tiredness that comes from physical exertion. I've just felt better. On a small high, a feeling of letting good things flow through my body. I want to keep doing that, keep having that feeling.
When I picked Matthew up from day care today, his carer told me he'd said to someone during the day that he wanted to be just like his Dad when he grew up. It's amazing to hear that about yourself. I must be doing something right! Not, of course, that I do want him to grow up just like me. I think he can do better than that.
I'm enjoying working from home again. It's not ideal — office is far too small, hard to separate home from work, no one to talk to — but it's a lot better. Things are more relaxed at home, there's more time to do things. I get to listen to music I like when I work! I get to wear shorts and a t-shirt! I get to have a cat napping on my lap! I'm easily pleased.
