Spam. Don'tcha hate it? Like I have nothing better to do than reply to unsolicited e-mail about bird-houses.

Matthew's aunt sent him a Furby for Christmas. It just arrived this morning. She thoughtfully sent batteries with it. And a spare set of batteries. I sense that I'm going to throttle that damn Furby before very long. It'll be like that scene in "2001 - A Space Odyssey" where Dave unplugs HAL the computer. I'll be unscrewing the cover for the batteries:

"Boo Mike, boo" (No Mike, no)

"dah/boh-bay Mike, dah/boo-bay" (Scared Mike, scared)

Taking the last screw out of the cover

"Boo/koo-doh/e-day" (Don't feel good)

"Kah-dah/boh-bay" (I'm scared)

"Why are you doing this to me Mike?" (Why are you doing this to me Mike?)

Taking the battery out

"Boo …" (No …)

On the bright side, Laa-laa's batteries have finally run out after nearly a year. Have we replaced them? Hell no!

Oh, and on the other bright side, Matthew's aunt also sent him US$20. He has no concept of the value of money yet.

"Matthew, do you love Daddy?"
"Ummm, yes"
"Matthew, do you want to go for a swim?"
"Ummm, yes"
"Matthew, can Daddy have that $20?"
"Ummm, yes"

Kids are such fun.
