Note to myself
19 January, 2000

I should put that big sign above my desk, on the wall so I see it each time I lift my eyes from the computer screen. I should paint it in big, bold colours, and hang it there — a reminder, and a spur, and a promise.

I should think about it each day, and weigh each thing I do, feeling the weight of the action against the sign. I should carry it with me in my heart, like the habit of a mantra that becomes lived.

I should not worry about the sign. And I should not worry about what I do or don't do. Instead I should be living lightly and deeply in each moment, savouring and tasting, and then letting it go as I move to the next.

These are summer thoughts, these are new year thoughts. These are thoughts on how I should live my life.

And the sign would read,

“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.”
