Rainy
Saturday Debbie's out with some friends for dinner, celebrating the end of her thesis and catching up with them. I've been adding a few new pictures to the picture section of the site, and I've even added some stuff to my biography. It's not often I get a night alone, to just potter around as I want. It's good once in a while. It's been raining most of the day, a steady rain, falling straight down, gathering and running in rivulets down the pathway and forming puddles in the road. Raining hard Daddy as Matthew would say. It was cold this afternoon as we snuggled in bed, curling ourselves around each other and leaving space for the cat settled in at the bottom. Aren't you taking any clothes off?, I said to Deb. It's too cold! she shivered. I expressed my opinion that a certain amount of nudity would be helpful. She took a certain amount of clothing off. That's all you're getting. I love the sound of rain on the roof and windows. Even heavy rain. But especially the soft pattering and swishing of a gentle steady rain. It's a lulling, comforting sound. Work is steady, but not quite enough at the moment. I'm earning less money than we need, so it's always a catch-up situation. Each fortnight we resort to the credit card to survive until Debbie's next pay comes in. Each time I get a cheque, it goes straight to paying off bills, but never enough to pay all of them off. It means I'm not investing any money back into the business, which, of course, is not helping me get any new work. It always seems like I'm on the verge of cracking this, but never quite doing it. I'm sticking with it though. I believe in what I'm doing. It's a long weekend. We're celebrating the birthday of the Queen of England on Monday. Not that it's actually her birthday! But hey, I'll take a day's holiday from anyone. |
