Days
blur into each other on holiday which is a good thing!
So today doesn't have that Friday-looking-forward-to-the-weekend
feel about it. It has the I'm-still-in-the-middle-of-my-holidays-and-I-don't-give-a-damn-what-day-it-is
feeling. Like I said, a good thing.
Matthew
seems to have got out of the habit of his afternoon sleep this
past week. The downside is that we don't have that 1-2 hour break
in the middle of the day when he sleeps. But, and this is a bigbigbig
plus, he's sleeping well at night and sleeping till after 9am
in the morning. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful a sleep-in
till after 9am is for us. It's been years of being woken up anywhere
between 5.30 and 7am, so 9am is just complete luxury. This will
only last for these holidays, but we're making the most of it.
Last
night, just as I climbed into bed, we had a small fight when Debbie
accused me of doing nothing around the house for the past few
years. Not the ongoing cooking/cleaning/washing type things, but
the maintenance/upgrade type things. Yes, she has a point. No,
just as I climb into bed isn't the time to make it!
Anyway,
I woke up in the middle of the night with thoughts of a spring
clean in the living room. As you do. So today was duly declared
Living Room Day. We spent a good half of the day cleaning the
room. We have piles of magazines to get rid of, all stacked by
the front door Q Magazine, Wired magazine, NetGuide magazine
and assorted House&Garden magazines. We took all our books
off the bookshelf, dusted and rearranged them, and put them back.
We dusted and vacuumed. We rearranged all the electrical plugs
for the stereo and tv/video. We vacuumed up a dead spider. The
room, of course, looks pretty much exactly the same! But we at
least feel morally better cos we know it's cleaner.
In
the coming days we hope to have a Kitchen/Laundry Day, a Bathroom/Toilet
Day, a Study Day, and a Bedroom/Hallway Day. I'll keep you posted
with blow-by-blow accounts of each day as it happens.
